By way of ‘giving something back’ to the people of Lesotho, we are driving a project called
“Peaches and Pencils”. For a few short months of every year, thousands of peach trees in Lesotho produce delicious peaches. The locals bottle as many as they can but suitable glass jars are very expensive there. Jars are handed down from generation to generation and those with enough jars are able to not only stock up on peaches for their own consumption, but also to sell the preserved peaches and yield an income.
Education is critically important for the future of Lesotho, but the schools and scholars struggle with insufficient stationery.
Peaches and Pencils aims to raise funds to provide glass jars suitable for the peaches, supplied filled with a 72 page exercise book, 6 HB pencils, 10 coloured crayons, 1 pr scissors, 1 ruler, 1 eraser, 2 metal sharpeners, 1 roll selotape, 1 glue stick.

Description: http://c.diez.quattro.co.za/za_members/3602/ftp/IMG_5435.jpg“Khotso Pula Nala” is the national slogan in Lesotho and it means “Peace Rain Prosperity”, the value of which is totally understood by everyone in Lesotho.
Peace – this is exactly what we want between the Locals and Riders who each year enjoy the unbeatable riding to be had in Lesotho.
Rain – rain is vital to the country and as the Roof usually signals the onset of the rains, it is also very much associated with the Bikers – they seem to bring the rain!
Prosperity – as the jars will encourage the locals to make full use of a resource already very well established in the country –peaches. The fruit from the hundreds of thousands of trees that dot the countryside.

Every donation of R50.00 will purchase 1 x 700ml glass bottle and screw top lid, sandblasted with the image of a bike and the country’s slogan in the 2 languages spoken in Lesotho – Sesotho and English. Darryl Curtis (Bandit Signs) has very generously sponsored all the decals for sandblasting on the peach jars ensuring the image of the bike/ rider etched into the glass jar will mean the goodwill associated with the bikers is long-lasting.

The peoples of Lesotho will receive the message clearly that the Bikers truly appreciate the privilege of riding some of the world’s finest terrain and in gratitude want to meaningfully assist the communities to help themselves. We feel this is a good way for the villagers to actually benefit from the riders.
